At Han Arts Education, we are passionate about language learning through creativity. Our courses are designed to help learners of all ages and backgrounds acquire new language skills while exploring their artistic side. Our team of experienced teachers and professionals specialise in Task-Based Learning and CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), providing students with a practical and immersive language learning experience. We believe that language learning should be engaging, interactive, and fun, and we strive to create a welcoming and supportive learning environment for all our students.

Our Teachers

Miss Alison, Founder Director

Alison is a highly dedicated and experienced educator, boasting over eight years of teaching experience across both public and private schools, including the prestigious City of London School, The Gower School, The Mulberry House School, and many others. Her educational qualifications include a degree in music and a PGCE qualification in teaching from University College London, as well as a TESL/TESOL teaching qualification.

Alison's passion for semantic and independent learning, combined with her strong background in psychology, drives her commitment to developing creative and effective pedagogies that provide high-quality education in a fun, interactive, and student-centred approach. Her expertise spans task-based learning, CLIL, Montessori teaching, and Kodaly teaching methods.

Alison's extensive teaching experience encompasses preparing students for a variety of exams, including piano, HSK, YCT, and GCSE. She is fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese, adding to her ability to provide a unique and personalised learning experience for students.

Alison's love for music, language teaching, and psychology continues to inspire her work as an educator. These passions led her to start Han Arts Education, where she offers a fun and distinctive approach to learning, designed to engage and motivate students in their journey towards academic success.

Mr Watson (Alex lǎo shī),
Piano and Composition Teacher

Alex is a graduate from the Royal Northern College of Music. He is a seasoned piano teacher proficient in both English and Mandarin Chinese. With 18 years of piano experience, he has garnered accolades such as the Tagore Piano Prize and Amos Solo Performance prizes. Additionally, Alex is an active composer, regularly performing and receiving guidance from acclaimed pianists like Phillip Jenkins, Claudius Tanski, Marina Nadiradze, Jenny Vizinet, and Ben Powell.

Alex is a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher who tailors his approach to each student's needs. He prioritises building strong technique through personaliesed instruction, addressing problem areas patiently, and creating bespoke piano arrangements of music to keep students motivated. Alex is passionate about helping every student achieve their piano goals, believing that everyone has the potential to be a musician.

Miss Kate, Yoga Teacher

Kate's journey in yoga began in 2018 and she has since become a registered and qualified yoga teacher (RYT-200 2021 Registered Yoga Teacher). Yoga has brought positive changes to her life, including her diet, behavior, and the ability to control her mind and body. Kate enjoys spending her personal time meditating as much as she does practicing Asana.

With extensive experience teaching both one-to-one and small group yoga classes to students with varying levels of experience, Kate is skilled in adapting her classes to meet the unique needs of each individual, providing modifications and adjustments as needed. Her warm and supportive teaching style creates a welcoming atmosphere that encourages students to explore their practice and deepen their understanding of yoga.

Kate believes that the success of yoga is not solely dependent on the ability to perform postures, but rather, it positively changes the way we live our lives and our relationships.

Mr Wu (Wenjie lǎo shī), Mandarin Teacher

Wenjie is a native Mandarin speaker and a highly qualified Mandarin teacher with extensive experience in teaching Chinese language and culture to students of all ages and backgrounds. He completed his teacher training programme at UCL Institute of Education and holds a master’s degree in language teaching from King’s College London.

Wenjie's teaching approach focuses on the practical application of language skills in real-world situations, helping learners to make meaningful connections to the language and culture. He draws on a range of authentic materials, including poems, Chinese classics, films, and music, to engage and inspire his students. Wenjie's deep knowledge and passion for Chinese culture shine through in his teaching, creating a dynamic and enriching learning experience.

Mr Chung (Tommy lǎo shī),
English, Maths and Piano Teacher

Tommy is an outstanding financial planning consultant at Deloitte, known for his outgoing personality, empathetic approach, and unwavering drive. Born and raised in London, Tommy holds a degree in Accounting from the University, where he also spent a year studying abroad in Spain, further enriching his cultural experiences.

Apart from his professional pursuits, Tommy has a passion for teaching. During his studies, he excelled as a tutor in piano and mathematics up to GCSE level. With his diverse background, Tommy has gained invaluable experience across various industries, including Technology, Healthcare, and Consulting, which has honed his skills in communication, problem-solving, and strategic thinking.
